The Innovation Alliance Circular Design (CiD) offers a radically new model on how to link design to circularity and urban transformation. The Alliance aims
to establish benchmarks for rethinking design in a circular economy, shifting urban design, architecture, product and service design towards carbon-neutral cities, and enhancing bio-based innovation for building.
CiD operates on 3 levels: the co- creation of knowledge on circular design, the set-up of an innovation ecosystem for circular design, and educational innovation in academia, green entrepreneurship, and continuous learning and upskilling.
CiD is a European network of academia, research, business, civil society, and continuous education, connecting knowledge, innovation, and practice to advance circular design.
CiD established local and Europe-wide observatories to connect education and research with their surrounding socio-economic environments, engaging additional stakeholders in processes of circular transformation.
CiD organised international conferences, alongside workshops, training sessions, observatory meetings, exhibitions, public lectures, and local events.
All books, training materials, and other resources are open access, enabling knowledge sharing and supporting others to become agents of change.

from project to platform
The CiD project ran from 2023 to 2026 and has now come to an end. But this does not mean the end of CiD. During these three years, the CiD team has built a strong network, shared knowledge, developed new learning formats, and created connections across Europe.
Our vision is to take CiD from project to platform. A platform that keeps the knowledge and materials alive, but also leaves room for new ideas, new people, and new collaborations
As a lasting platform for Circular Design, CiD will focus on four things: informing by sharing knowledge, tools, and materials; exchanging through dialogue and mutual learning; advocating for Circular Design across different fields; and collaborating on new ideas and initiatives.
Are you following us yet? Although the CiD project is coming to an end, the network will continue. Follow us to find out about upcoming events, Circular Design activities, new publications and opportunities to connect with the CiD community.
